The Hershey-Palmyra Sertoma Club The Hershey-Palmyra Sertoma Club was established in 1975 as and offspring of the Lebanon Valley Sertoma Club in Lebanon. Originally the club had approximately 30 members and today consists of over 50 members made up of local residents and business people who are interested in their local community. Over the years the Club has sponsored many local causes; the most notable being the Four Diamonds Fund which benefits pediatric cancer patients at the Hershey Medical Center. At its inception, the bulk of the annual operating budget for the Four Diamonds Fund was provided by the Hershey-Palmyra Sertoma Club and today the Fund continues to be one of the many charitable causes sponsored by the Club. The Club also was and original founder of the Hearsay fund, an organization made up of Sertoma Clubs from Eastern and Western Pennsylvania which assists twelve local affiliate hospitals in the area of speech and hearing. In addition, the Club provides scholarships to financially needy students at Palmyra and Hershey High Schools, sponsors a Fantasy Baseball Camp for hearing impaired children, provides support to the Capital Area Therapeutic Riding Association, and contributes to many other worthwhile causes benefiting the Hershey-Palmyra area and South Central Pennsylvania. |
